Doors open at 8:00 pm
Tickets: $10 (purchase here)

The Belmont
305 West 6th Street
Austin, Texas

This Thursday I’ll be showcasing with RAW: Austin again. I’ll be displaying several new works that haven’t been seen in public before (your computer screen doesn’t count, silly). I’ll also be doing some life drawing with a live model throughout the evening. Everyone involved  has some fun stuff planned. There will be art on display, live music, a couple of performances, and a fashion show. I promise it’s something you don’t want to miss.

You can get a full lineup of artists and purchase tickets on the event page.

Exposed in Los Angeles

Exposed: The Contemporary Nude

Opens Saturday, July 9, 2011 7:30 – 10:30 pm
1650 Gallery
1650 Echo Park Avenue, Los Angeles, CA

This Saturday I’ll have a couple of photos in 1650 Gallery’s show “Exposed: The Contemporary Nude”. More information can be found on their website. I’m planning on attending the opening and will making a trip back to Los Angeles. So I’m looking forward to the show and also seeing what kind of adventures will happen this weekend.

Meanwhile, back in Austin, Texas…

I was invited to participate in a group art show this month at The Hideout, located 617 Congress Avenue in Downtown Austin. Go have some coffee or watch a show at the theatre and see my painting “Rebellion/Subversion” while you’re there.

This Saturday: ArtErotica 2011

Saturday, March 26
8:30 pm – 12:30 pm
Seaholm Power Plant
Austin, TX

Tickets: $50
http://www.octopusclub.org/ArtErotica

Every year I donate work to ArtErotica. The event is sponsored by the Octopus Club and benefits the AIDS Services of Austin. It continues to push the envelope for erotic art and is considered Austin’s sexiest art show and fundraiser. I like to contribute photography I can’t show at 99.8% of other art shows. This year is no exception. In fact, while I was in Detroit for The Dirty Show in February, I captured one of my favorite naughty photos with Luna Devise. I haven’t posted it here on my site yet because I think even the most liberal people would think “Holy shit!”. I know that’s what I thought when I saw how it turned out. I’m only going to let the photo only be seen at the event since it extremely not safe for work (NSFW) and I keep things from going past the “rated R” level here.

First Thursday at Stella Blue

Thursday, March 3, 2011 6 – 8 pm
Stella Blue Boutique & Salon
1204 South Congress Ave, Austin, TX

Those who live in Austin know all about the First Thursday events that take place on South Congress Avenue. It’s basically a street party where the local businesses stay open late, artisans are out selling their ware, and there’s all sorts of musicians and other performers wandering about. I have many of my paintings on display at Stella Blue and I’ll be out this Thursday. Those of you who are in the area should come by to see a few of my recent works and some old favorites, browse the boutique, and enjoy some drinks, light appetizers, and music.

Art at Stella Blue

This week I put up a dozen paintings at Stella Blue Boutique & Salon, located at 1204 South Congress Avenue in the SoCo district of Austin, Texas. They’ll be on display for several months, including during the South by Southwest festival. I’m excited to have them there and we’re planning an event for the monthly First Thursday on South Congress on March 3rd. They may also be hosting some events during SXSW. I’ll have more details on all the events as I get them.

Lab AD in Albuquerque

February 4 – 18, 2011
at BECA: Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art
Albuquerque, NM

For my first big show of the year I’m pleased to be a part of this international event of artists and designers. This show looked like an interesting opportunity and I signed up for it. Rather than submit work that already existed, I created a new painting at the 12″x12″ size they set. I finished it in late December and set it off in mid-January. It will have its debut on Friday, February 4th. More information about the show can found on the BECA Foundation’s website www.BECAICAD.org and the Facebook event page.

Hopefully this will be a good start to shows I’m a part of this year. I already shipped my work for the Dirty Show February 11th – 19th in Detroit, and this week I was notified I’ll have a piece in Nude Night during early March in Tampa. Being in these out-of-town shows also gives me an excuse to travel. My plans are set for Albuquerque and Detroit over the next two weekends. I’ll get to see parts of the country that are new to me (although I visited New Mexico as a teenager but have very little recollection of it). It’s not going to be all about being a tourist though. When I travel I like to schedule photo shoots with models while I’m in the area and these trips are no different. So it’s not going to be all play. I’ll be doing some work too. Of course, in my case, my work can often feel like play.
