In the Alleys

Every now and then a Hipstamtic iPhone photo turns out real nice.

Tami is a friend, my stylist, frequent collaborator, and sometimes she gets her picture taken… even if it is in some back alley while we’re out at night.

This photo reminded me of the artwork of cupid as soon as I saw it. Anyone else agree?

Hattie in the Red Room

model: Hattie Watson

This photo is part of our set on Zivity. Trail members and subscribers can view it here.

Over the last year or so I’ve been been doing less studio work with seamless paper backdrops. I’ve either been doing shots in locations like hotels or creating sets like this one. This was loosely inspired by Twin Peaks’ Red Room (or the Black Lodge if nerds like me want to get technical about it). I saw the red curtains going from the floor to ceiling told myself I wanted a room like that. I found several sets of red velvet curtains at a vintage store and bought them all. Also featured in this photo is a chair from the 1960s or 70s I found at the same store I got the curtains and a lamp from the 1970s I got from my friend Gabrielle Faust, who is horror and sci-fi author, artist, and more. Just about the only thing that isn’t vintage is Hattie. Although, she is from the 1980s.
