Silent Haven

“Silent Haven”
digital photo manipulation
model: Angela Ryan

A haven is a place of shelter and security. Everyone struggles with themselves to keep our own personal havens intact every now and then.

Before a photo shoot where one of my ideas involves creating a manipulation, I have notes written so I don’t forget about the shots I’d like to get. Sometimes it can be hard to explain to the model since the vision of what I’m trying to do only exists in my head. Although we didn’t spend long taking a series of photos for this, the images we got worked better than what I imagined and I didn’t have to spend much time picking out the pieces for the composition.

You can purchase prints of “Silent Haven” from my Art & Photo Print Shop.

Allusion

from 2008: “Allusion”
graphite on 12″x24″ birch wood

This is one of the few (probably two) pieces I’ve done on wood where I let the grain show through. I was spring cleaning and organized my home studio when I saw it again. It had a few marks from being handled and transported to shows. It was easy to fix though because they could be sanded off. Before long the whole piece was like new again.

“Allusion” is currently available in my Etsy store. You can also get prints of it from my Art & Photo Print Shop.

TV Night

This is how Miss Eva normally lounges around to watch television. No Lie.

Angela in the Rubba Chair

model: Angela Ryan
hair: Jennifer Kraack

There are quite a bit of polymers in this photo, from the latex gauntlets and stockings to the plastic throne. Although she looks really good, I assure you she is flesh and blood.

You can purchase prints of “Angela in the Rubba Chair” from my Art & Photo Print Shop. I’m also booking photography sessions from now through mid-May in Austin, Texas.

Velocity at the Ace Motel

model: Velocity

I don’t think I’ve posted many photos from this set with Velocity. After the shoot at my home studio about a year ago, I took her to the motel she was staying at. It was actually kind of a classy but trashy place, but it fit our purpose of shooting in a run down room. Subscribers and trial members can view the full photo set at Zivity.

Here’s a fun fact: Velocity is the model that unknowingly put me in the hospital. Well, it’s not her fault. Before the photo shoot I loaded up on caffeine and took some allergy medication too. Nothing serious happened but I didn’t feel right the next day.

You can purchase prints of “Velocity at the Ace Motel” from my Art & Photo Print Shop. I’m also booking photography sessions from now through mid-May in Austin, Texas.

Searching the Past

model: Angela Ryan
hair: Jennifer Kraack

I had a photo session with Angela Ryan recently. I also upgraded to a new camera recently. I can’t think of a better way for it to have been broken in.

Melancholy Requiem

from 2008: “Melancholy Requiem”
acrylic & graphite on 18″x24″ wood panel

“Melancholy Requiem” was one of those pieces where I saw someone else’s work and it gave me an idea for something of my own. In this case it was a black surface with a splash of white and a drawing in that area. It’s simple in its approach and execution but there are times things don’t need to be overdone. Also, since I’ve done this piece, I often start with a black surface and build up the painting from there.

“Melancholy Requiem” is currently for sale in my Etsy Store. You can also purchase prints of it from my Art & Photo Print Shop.
