Lab AD in Albuquerque

February 4 – 18, 2011
at BECA: Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art
Albuquerque, NM
For my first big show of the year I’m pleased to be a part of this international event of artists and designers. This show looked like an interesting opportunity and I signed up for it. Rather than submit work that already existed, I created a new painting at the 12″x12″ size they set. I finished it in late December and set it off in mid-January. It will have its debut on Friday, February 4th. More information about the show can found on the BECA Foundation’s website www.BECAICAD.org and the Facebook event page.
Hopefully this will be a good start to shows I’m a part of this year. I already shipped my work for the Dirty Show February 11th – 19th in Detroit, and this week I was notified I’ll have a piece in Nude Night during early March in Tampa. Being in these out-of-town shows also gives me an excuse to travel. My plans are set for Albuquerque and Detroit over the next two weekends. I’ll get to see parts of the country that are new to me (although I visited New Mexico as a teenager but have very little recollection of it). It’s not going to be all about being a tourist though. When I travel I like to schedule photo shoots with models while I’m in the area and these trips are no different. So it’s not going to be all play. I’ll be doing some work too. Of course, in my case, my work can often feel like play.
